I chose to post this book because it fits in the genre of both folklore and poetry. This poem was first published in 1829 by Mary Howitt. It was also honored a Caldeocott Honor Book in 2007. The illustrations are amazing, and the poem teaches children not to trust strangers. I think this book will create serious discussions in a classroom, and children can strengthen their fluency while learning a powerful lesson. When someone gives you the creeps, listen to your instincts.
Lora,
ReplyDeleteThis cover really caught my eye and I'm looking forward to reading this book. I think that stanger awareness is very important for children to learn. Children are so unaware of all the dangers in the world and how to stay safe form them. This is probably the only subject I don't have repesented in my future preschool class library and I'm planning on adding it when I get done with this comment.
Thank you,
Lauren
