"Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" is written by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archumbault. This book is ideal for kindergarten through second grade students who may be learning their alphabet, capitol and lower case letters. Not only is this book educational, but it can be read in such a fun manner. I remember being in elementary school and our music teacher would read this book to us on occasion. Not just me, but the whole class would get so excited because we could read along with the easily rhymed words and had a chance to yell, "Chicka chicka boom boom!" at the end of the book. Despite my fond experience with this book being read to me in a specific manner, this book could be read in a variety of ways which only adds to the list of reasons why this book is an excellent choice for a classroom.
I have had the opportunity to read this book to a kindergarten class, and it was so neat to see the excitement on the students' faces. It is a great book, and it gets kids excited about reading.
ReplyDeleteThis w one of my favorite books in school and I totally forgot about it until now, thanks for picking such a classic these can be the best books to share with a class no matter how many new books there are.
ReplyDeleteI love this book! When I taught preschool, this was a favorite amoung the children as well. The rhythmic "sing-songy" feel of the text makes it appealing to read, as well as, to listen to. It is humorous for children as well. This is a great book for people of all ages!
ReplyDeleteWords can't even explain how many great memories I have of this book as a child! It was by far my favorite book growing up! Everything from the illustrations to the fun rhythm makes this a fun book for begining readers. If you have not read this book I highly recomend doing so!
ReplyDeleteI also remember reading this book in kindergarten. We would all read it in a sing-song kind of manner, and that's what made it fun! Everyone was doing it together and no one was left out. This is a great book to get kids excited about learning the building blocks of literacy.
