DAWCL resource
DAWCL stands for Database of Award Winning Children's Literature. The purpose of this database is to create a tailored reading list of quality children's literature or to find out if a book has won one of the indexed awards. I expect the user to be a librarian or a teacher intervening for a child-reader, however anyone may make use of it to find the best in children's literature including parents, book store personnel, and children and young adults themselves. This database has over 8,700 records from 102 awards across six English-speaking countries. Here is the link to go and view the website. http://www.dawcl.com/introduction.html

Thank you. What an awesome way to assist us in choosing quality critical literature for our students. I like how it is organized to make it easy to choose the topic you need. I had never heard of this before but I now have it Bookmarked.
ReplyDeleteCagney,
ReplyDeleteI was going to use this site for my resource share also! I love how this site allows people to search for award winning books for free. What a great resource. Although this site states that it is/should be mostly used by librarians and teachers I think that it is wonderful for anyone. Parents too are an excellent resource so for their shares and findings is beneficial to everyone. I also really like how easy this site makes it to find books. If you as an educator know exactly what you want to teach, searching for books can become very easy and time saving using this resource!
Thanks for your share!
